Question: What do you get out of this work?
Answer: I do it for the sheer joy of it. There’s nothing more fulfilling that heading home after a day’s work knowing that you’ve made someone feel a little bit lighter.
Question: How does it work?
Answer: We always start with a consultation. I meet you, you meet me, we talk about your needs and make sure it’s a good fit before moving forward.
Question: Should I clean up before you come over?
Answer: No. I need to see how things got they way they did. It’s important for me to see you in your natural habitat.
Question: What are your qualifications/credentials?
Answer: 15 years in the film industry wardrobe department. Member of the Professional Organizers of Canada ( POC) since 2004. Certified Senior Move Manager (CSMM) since 2009.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: I charge $75 for an initial consultation. This fee is credited to your first invoice if you choose to hire my services.
Question: Do you have a team?
Answer: Yes. When appropriate, I collaborate with a team of helpers (handy people, cleaners, interior designers, movers, etc. ) who provide their expertise.
Question: I don’t want my husband, wife, neighbour (fill in the blank) to find out I hired someone to help me. Will you be discrete?
Answer: Absolutely. The Initial Consultation includes a Confidentiality Agreement to be signed by April Poppe and yourself guaranteeing that I will not share any of the details of our work together.
Question: If I need supplies, should I go out and get them prior to our meeting?
Answer: It’s best to assess the situation prior to shopping, that we will know exactly what is needed to complete the project. I can give you a shopping list or do all the shopping for you, deliver it and set it up (if applicable).
Question: I've seen you on that Hoarding show. Just how do you do it?
Answer: One step at a time. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Reality TV is one thing, and real life is something else. When working with someone who falls into the category of “Hoarder” on the spectrum of disorganization, it’s important they the client also work in tandem with a mental health professional.
Question: How did you get into this work?
Answer: I’m a natural organizer. My parents were incredibly fastidious and organized people both in their working lives and personal. I wanted work that was fulfilling and creative but also allowed me to have a balanced and fulfilling personal life.
